On the day of the treatment, the areas to be treated will be marked and photographed. Then the treating consultant will apply the gel pad and applicator to the area being treated. Suction may be used to pull this fatty layer up and rapidly cools in the location to ensure the discomfort is only for a short period of time. This can vary from person to person. During the treatment, you can just relax, and lie back and enjoy some down time to read, watch a movie etc. Afterwards, patients will often return to normal activities.
The initial 5-10 mins once treatment starts can be uncomfortable but this quickly subsides once the cooling occurs. Afterwards, there may be localised discomfort for a few days.
CoolSculpting is not recommended for persons known to have cold sensitivity, cold urticaria, Raynaud’s disease or Cryoglobinuria. Other medical conditions such as pregnancy, hernias, skin conditions, recent surgery may also preclude treatment. It is not recommended for very large areas of loose skin or fatty tissue.
Immediately after treatment the area is massaged and the area may be red for a few hours. Some people may develop bruising, swelling, tenderness and altered skin sensation. This is part of the process and can last for a few weeks after treatment. Please feel free to contact us if any symptoms are persistent or concerning.
The results may be evident as quickly as three weeks after the treatment. To allow maximum effects, it may take up to three months to see the final result.
As long as you maintain your weight with healthy diet and exercise, the results should be long lasting.
