Dermal Fillers

Long lasting, natural looking results.

What are fillers and what are they used for?

Wrinkle or dermal fillers are gel substances which can be injected into or under the skin for a variety of effects. These gel fillers are fully biocompatible with skin tissues (which naturally contain significant amounts of this substance). The fillers are gradually broken down but due to their ability to absorb water during this time, they maintain their volume over a prolonged period.

Perfect for Lines

Many lines around the face area will improve with injection of wrinkle fillers directly under the line, but often further treatment is necessary in order to strengthen the structural supports of the skin around the line.

A wrinkle relaxer injection may be beneficial in terms of further line prevention and also to improve longevity of the filler. Lines especially around the mouth are often injected – nasolabial lines, the marionettes and the chin crease. The tear trough is very successfully injected and has the effect of making the face and eyes look less tired.

Lips & Wrinkles

Dermal fillers, or wrinkle fillers, are substances which can be injected into the skin to soften lines and wrinkles or to create fuller lips. Wrinkle fillers are also used to correct loss of volume in areas of the face such as the cheeks and the under eye area (tear troughs). Dynamic lines around the eyes and frown areas may be more suited to treatment with a muscle relaxant injection. Combination treatments are commonly used, with wrinkle relaxing injections used in the forehead and lateral eyes, and wrinkle fillers in the lower face, lips or cheeks.

And Cheeks

Restoration of lost volume in the cheeks is easily achieved, relieving hollowness or gauntness and returning the cheeks to a natural youthful plumpness.

Dermal Fillers have varying functions, primarily they are used to plump skin that has lost volume, and to enhance facial features such as the jaw, cheekbones, lips or chin.

  • Why use dermal fillers for lips?

As we age, lips tend to thin, and the injection of even small volumes will create a fuller effect. Wrinkle filler may be injected to improve definition, increase fullness, or to reduce lines. Vertical lines on the top lip are best treated with tiny amounts of filler placed in the line. The concern that most people have when considering lip treatments is to maintain a natural look - the doctors at Laser Skin Care have many years experience in using fillers for lips and are committed to achieving a natural appearance.

It is gradually reabsorbed, but maintains filler effect due to the absorption of water over time.

For the injection of lines or wrinkles, treatment involves some discomfort, and an anaesthetic cream may be applied an hour beforehand. With regards to the treatment of the lips, a local anaesthetic injection is usually used to numb the area. The procedure generally takes around 30 minutes with the effect usually lasting between 6 months to a year but is extremely variable. Due to variations in the individual response and the degree of fullness desired, the effect is often assessed at 3 to 4 weeks post treatment. Further injection may be undergone at this stage.
