Laser tattoo removal using Class 4 lasers can only be performed legally by registered medical practitioners in Western Australia. We are aware that some clinics may be promoting Class 3 (weak) laser treatment of tattoos. Class 3 lasers will not effectively remove tattoo pigment.

Different tattoo colours are targeted by the range of laser wavelengths. Green and light blue tattoo pigment though, can be resistant to laser treatment. (The new Picosure laser is better at removing green and light blue ink, but not significantly better at removing black ink).

Some other tattoos may be more difficult to remove – very dark ones such as cover-ups, and some parts of the body such as the wrist are examples.
