Congenital Vascular Lesions

Congenital vascular lesions include Port Wine Stain, Strawberry naevi and Infantile Haemangiomas.

The majority of vascular birthmarks are not clinically evident at birth but become apparent within the first days to months of life. Haemangiomas are more common on the head and neck, although they can occur anywhere on the skin. They range in size from a few millimetres to many centimetres in diameter. They may be superficial, deep, or combined.

Lasers and intense pulsed light (IPL) are treatment options for a variety of these lesions as they have the ability to focus on targeting blood vessels at varying depths. These include Pulsed dye lasers (PDL), 1064 Nd:Yag lasers, Intense Pulsed light (IPL), and often a combination of any 2 or 3 used during treatments.

At Laser Skin Care we have all these light and laser modalities of treatment and all our treatments are performed by highly trained medical doctors with many years of experience.

Recovery after laser and IPL for vascular birthmarks is variable but usually involves a healing time of 5-7 days during which there can be swelling, redness, and occasional mild scabbing. Scarring risk is low.
