Rosacea Blog Post

Rosacea is a long term skin condition characterised by facial redness, small and superficial dilated blood vessels, papules, pustules and swelling.  Less commonly it can affect the neck and chest.

Rosacea can result in semipermanent redness and dilated, visible blood vessels on the face and, in some advanced cases, a red lobulated nose (rhinophyma) may develop.

Treatment options:
Treating rosacea varies depending on severity and subtypes.  Some patients require a course of topical and oral antibiotics.
Light therapy (vascular laser and IPL) is a very effective treatment of the vascular component of rosacea.  It reduces the background redness, telangiectasia and often the papular component of rosacea.  Multiple treatments result in permanent control of the condition for many patients.
